"proper" way to take off tube holders?

Just would like to know the "proper" way to take off the tube holders/protectors on my herberts POWER tubes, preamp tubes I have no problem with. I've taken them off before, but wasn't always sure the proper way to do it...also the proper way to put them back on. Thanks!

Are you talking about the original tube retainers that were installed from the factory, the ones that hold the EL34s or similar size like a bracket and they are mounted with the tube sockets?

What tubes are you running right now?

Also, what are you trying to do, if I may ask.
