An odd title for a gear forum, I know, but it fits.

I am not trying to make a big deal over nothing but I think my wife just did one of the coolest things, which helped me to grow in a neat way as well.

Saw a used guitar come up. One of those Carvin Classical electric guitars with an absolutely sick quilt.

Well, this happened to be a guitar that I have stared at in the Carvin magazine in my teens.

I said "whoa, that's literally one of my dream guitars. I bet I could get it for about a Grand."

Her response, "You should get it, I'm sure we'll be fine."

No pause or anything.

She meant it as well.

I'm sure you know what happened next.....

I did NOT get the guitar.

Why? There are other things in life that really need that cash that could make my wife and kid's lives better/easier.

Plus, I have plenty of other toys, I'll be fine.

No crappy mental feelings about passing on it or "missing out".

I don't just jump and buy things, so to see something I want, get the go ahead, know I could technically afford it, but choose not to...... It feels good.

That guitar has since sold.

Went fast, knew it would, and I hope whoever got it plays the absolute shit out of it.

Nah dude, she's setting you up. She's gonna need new shoes & matching accouterment for the new outfit she bought. Because you didn't buy the guitar, munnies is now available for her to spend. She trapped your ass.
Nah, not at all.

I am the high maintenance one.

She's as humble and down to earth as the soil man.

She quite literally hates to shop, can't make her buy clothes or shoes or anything really at all.

Natural beauty too, so she hardly even uses makeup.

Can't remember when she last had her hair done.

Doesn't like nail salons.

Super blessed beyond belief.

So anyways, where did you hide the guitar?

Great heartwarming post. And it sounds like you made the right decision for you and your famiiy.

Those Carvin nylon string electrics BTW are really cool guitars. I got one around 2016 right about when Carvin changed their name to Kiesel. They also have a built in hexaphonic pickup for use with synth and sampler modules like a Roland GR-55.
