So I'm perusing the Sweetwater site and the PRS CE 24s catch my attention. I've never owned a PRS before and that one looked good until I read the specs: padded gig bag. It's a 2K guitar. 2k!!! I know that's cheap by the companies standards but it's still a lot of coin for the average player and you can't cough up a HSC? WTF?
Am I just that out of touch with customer expectations?
Rant over

The PRS gig bag is actually amazing and out of all the gig bags I've messed with really sets the gold standard. I've seen guys roll up to gigs (and there are photos of PRS Experience) with people bringing Core and Artist quality instruments in them because the PRS hard shell case is a huge beast, where as the gig bag is much more compact.

Gig bag aside its a fantastic guitar for the money. So freakin comfortable and Henry isn't in charge of QA so you got that goin for ya

Look at this one.

I can't think of any American brands that deliver with a hardcase in that price range other than some of the huge ones.

So you're saying that most American guitars in that price range deliver with a hardcase?

I don't think it's a huge deal either way, but if I were in the market for a new CE, a hardcase would make it more appealing. To me, the bigger issue is that a new CE really isn't interesting, period, considering the deals to be had on used core PRS or older CE.

This is true... I got one with my Vela and I love it. I carry my CU22 in it with no problems.

Also, to the OP, my Suhr Modern Satin is a $2,000 guitar that came with a gigbag.

I guess I'm just too behind the times guys. I know that gig bags are nice these days but I'm old school. If I'm spending 2k I want a HSC. THEN I'll decide if I want to add a gig bag.

My PRS came in HSC. If the gig bag was an option I would've chosen it instead.

I like the Vela bag, but do you notice you have to retune every time you take the guitar out? That's my only issue with the bag. I've never had that problem before, but this one will move the tuners while it is in there.

And I absolutely will grab the lighter gig bag every time versus a hardshell case. Yes, it's a cost-cutting measure, but it has some real-world benefits for gigging players.

That said, I still want a hardshell Vela case. They don't make one yet.
