I have owned 2 PRS guitars (1-Singlecut Satin Soapbar(sold this weekend), 2-Tremonti II-still own)
and I always get the feeling these are very delicate guitars, and can be damaged easily, so I have found I don't use them as much, or often as my big heavy Gibson's, which always feel more solid, even though you always see them with broken headstocks.

I think that glossy finish can get damaged too easily, and the guitars have a strange lightness to them that makes me feel they are not as solid.

Am I wrong about this, or do my worries have validation?

Ive owned 10 prs over the years and i never had any issues, a couple of my cu22 got knocked off guitar stands over the year but only had a little chip taken out, sure they get dings like any other guitar but the clear coat seemed to hold up better than alot of guitars i have owned.

I beat the piss out of my two PRS guitars that are both 15 and 16 years old respectively. The only troubles are things that I messed up lmao.

unfortunately from experience, I can tell you they are not delicate. My Tremonti has taken a hit that would have snapped the headstock off an LP. :aww:

I've had three and all of them felt really solid to me...you just need to get over those first couple dings.

20th Anniversary McCarty Trem...birds...10 top. Why oh why did I sell it?

I've got a Singlecut that I love and feels solid as hell.

I don't think they're delicate per se, but I do think for some reason a PRS with a bunch of dings looks weird, whereas a beat up fender or gibson is cool. Still, I wouldn't really worry about the occasional ding, just means it gets played/gigged a lot and probably sounds good if you're playing it that much. Completely pristine guitars generally don't get played that much which is fine if you just want to look at them (they *are* pretty :D) but kinda defeats the purpose.

I dont think they are any more delicate than anything else, and better than a bunch of others. They are a solid build.
I have broken the headstock on one though, but nothing would have survived that :aww: It just happened to be my favorite one too, and the only truly rare one I had at the time.
I have 3 of them, and they have been really solid and consistant guitars, I dont worry about wear on them, I got them to play (even the Eagle) The finish is wearing on the Eagle, it was really thin to begin with, It was one of the earliest run of Eagles, before they changed the way they were doing nitro-cellulose to a thicker type. I like the wear on it, I think it looks cool :D
Altogether I've had 8 of them, and never had any issue's. Some of them I did not like the tone of (customs) and got rid of them

I play ny SC245 like I stole it...never even sees the case. They're not too delicate, trust me :D

All of my PRS's have been through hell and back. I'm not really one to worry about finish condition, but I'll say this, the headstock of my Custom 22 got caught up in a ceiling fan debacle, and it came out completely unscathed.

On the other hand, give at Gibson the wrong look, and the headstock will come flying off :D

I almost had to laugh when I read you are scared of damaging your PRS worried it wouldnt survive and you use your Gibby's instead thinking they will....LOL. I cant even count all the stories I have read over the years of Gibby's loosing their headstocks....in what I would say are light falls.... You have nothing to worry about on a PRS as far as delicacy goes, except for dings and what not...but functionally I have seen a number of PRS absolutely tortured that continue to survive.
