Help me decide. :scared:

I suspect the PRS' would be more consistent tone and playability wise, and that the trem affects the tone less then a Floyd would.

On the other hand, the PRS trem won't have the range or tuning stability of the Floyd. Plus I really dig the 24 3/4 scale of the LP, although I don't know how much difference going to the 25" on the PRS will really make.

The PRS is about $400-500 less the the Axcess.

Any advice RT?

I'd go for the PRS. A Floyd on a Les Paul is an abomination. :D

Axcess FTW, I have had 5 of them and they have all been excellent.

I love McCarty's, but without a trem. I would rather have a Floyd if I was gonna have a trem at all. The PRS trem is good, but not fantastic if you are really working it (I've had 3 with trems, and have 0 now) If you just need to vibrato notes and chords they are fine, but if your a steady diver, its a no go, they will come out of tune slightly, I'd go with the gibby with the Floyd
And before everyone starts in on me, yes, they were set up correctly. I wanted them to be bulletproof, and again, they were fine for normal vibrato stuff, but for serious trem-dive work they were not.
I do prefer PRS build consistency to Gibsons, and I've had a bunch of both ;)

I'd go McCarty Trem. I don't like those Axcess Paul's at all personally, they just feel wrong to me.

I can't comment on the Axcess as I have never played one, but I love the McCarty's.

Either way, I suspect that you will be happy with your purchase whichever you decide to get.

I've had GAS for a Les Paul with Floyd since the early 80's but never managed to get around to getting one.

Getting my Suhr Modern with Gotoh Floyd last year made me realise how much of a pain in the arse they are :D especially when i was doing string changes every week cos of gigs.
Another thing was I realised I hardly ever use a trem, just to shimmer chords now and then or for some slurs .... no dive bombs these days haha.

SO .... i realised an Axcess would be pointless for me BUT I do really like the PRS trems. For what I need they are perfect, easy to string up and my new PRS DGT is the perfect guitar for me, so I expect you'd love a McCarty trem AND it will be a tone monster. That would be my first choice too but I can't play the wide fat necks.

i would take the mccarty trem, i owned one and i really liked it, i like the prs trems.

That just might be the most beautiful finish I have ever seen on a guitar. No... Not might... It is. Simple as that.

That's tough. I like Les Paul's better, but I bet the PRS will hold it's value better. Probably can't go wrong with either.

I sold that mccarty trem earlier this year for 2k and ive seen others in that price range and for the money its pretty cool.

I love LP's but when I tried the Axcess I gotta say I didn't dig it. It wasn't the guitar itself, it was the trem. The trem arm seems to interfere the the accessibility of the volume knobs. It's a great idea but to me it doesn't work.

these are the EXACT words I was going to post when I saw this thread

Alright, well thanks for the opinions. I'm going to go for the PRS McCarty. I don't have enough cash right at the moment for the Axcess anyway, and they seem to be in short supply used. I think I'll put together a Superstrat for my Floyd fix at some point down the road.
