Hey guys, hope all is well :) I've been reading up on the PRS SE Standard 24 and I'm thinking of getting one as I play in a 70's/80's classic rock/hard rock/hair metal cover band. My main guitar for the shows and rehearsals is the Epiphone LP Custom you see in my Sig and I bring my custom Wolfgang copy for backup and I've been using my other guitarist's Ibanez ART Series, set neck, 22 frets, stock everything for when I use the Capo for Run To You by Bryan Adams.

Are there any current or past PRS SE Standard 24 owners out there that can comment on these? The ones I'm looking at are the newer ones with the bird inlays and I'm on the verge of buying one online, I've seen a couple Blemished ones for a good price. I like the 22 fret versions too but don't like the fact that they lack the Coil Tap. My main amp I'm using for shows is my Mesa Tremoverb with my Marshall 1960 4x12 cab and a TC Electronic Corona Chorus and a Modtone Clean Boost (For Solos) through the effects loop of my Mesa. Thanks!!

my opinion is that the best guitars currently coming out of korea are the prs se standards. I had an se limited 24 that I sold regrettably. unfortunately I was not in a good state of mind at the time. after a proper setup, they cannot be beat. they can use a bit of fret work as the frets aren't perfect. but a lot better than many other guitars ive played.

The SE Standards are made in Indonesia, the normal SE line is made in Korea. I haven't heard much one way or the other about the SE Standard line at this point and haven't had a chance to play one myself.

The Korean SE line are some of the best bang for the buck guitars out there.

I had an SE Santana Standard for 2 days, theyre not great to be honest, the Korean SEs are worlds better, I have a Zack Meyers and its a great guitar worlds better than the Indonesian standards...

Rob Chapman did a video on the PRS Standards... Him and the Capt. seem to love them?

I think the lower end PRS guitars are really good for the money. The SE line has changed so much. I remember the first ones that came out... my goodness. :(

interesting. I had no idea PRS moved production of some models to Indonesia. I've never played an Indonesian model PRS however the Indonesian G&L guitars I've owned and played were quite impressive. actually took away my bias against guitars produced in Indo.

I got to compare both recently (SE Custom MIK and SE Standard MII), and I will say the MIK did feel a little better. Hard to explain, but it did feel a little nicer. However, if I were buying one I think I would have bought the Standard. A little love and cleanup would have made it close, and honestly I just prefer simpler guitars. Not a fan of all the binding on the body and neck and such on the Custom.

However, both had that dipped in plastic feel that always annoys me. I would feel less bad about sanding the finish off the neck of the Standard :D

I must admit I have no experience with an SE Standard 24, but I've played a bunch of SE Custom 24's. Based on that experience I bought one used sight unseen. Love mine! It's been my Numero Uno guitar for the past six months or so.

I did change the pickups to a Suhr Aldrich set.
