Must be pretty amazing for $2.5K

That's about the price of the elusive, reissue Fish preamp.    :D

From what I've read about these pre 500 Dual Rec's is that the circuit is pretty much a direct copy of a Soldano SLO; not even a value changed here or there to make things at least look not so obvious. Would like some of the amp builder guys who know more to comment though.

Not a amp builder, but have played a few of the early ones. I think it's BS. But who knows? I thought all the Mesa Rectifiers had part of the SLO preamp ? :scared: I also have heard something about them and the Mark III output trannnny ?

For that price if it's the same circuit as a SLO then why not go with the real thing?

Just saying $2500 is kinda steep for a dual rec but hey good luck to your boy.

Well I'm pretty sure the one I saw for quite a while here on CL listed at $1650 didn't sell and it had a chrome chassis. There's plenty of info available on the early ones. It's up to a buyer if they feel it has that extra cash mojo or not. I personally think it doesn't. I Remeber when they first came out. I was about 22. Didn't think they were amazing then and I was a complete metalhead at the time too.

i know this amp, it belonged to giles/moshaholic and he sold it to guitarded on hcaf, i was buying it 2 years ago from him and i ened up getting something else. he didnt ask me anywhere near 2k for it. i should have bought it back then and i wished i had it now but i would never pay 2500 for it.

Great amp!

Should sell but not for that much $$$ in these times...

I won't touch this one with a ten foot pole this time. I don't wanna come across as an a.hole :D

Take it easy guys, don't kill the messenger.....lol

He is rethinking the price, it may or may not pop up on the bay.

Not my amp, nor my pricing. Put the guns down.... :D

Tell him to shoot me a PM after he rethinks his price ;) :D

This thread should be in the classifieds section but if it was I would have to nuke it because it breaks the rules   I will let it go for now... ;)

Couldn't agree more. VERY overrated amps imho.

I think the early ones sound great, but so do the rackmounts and even the dual channels. buddy of mine had a rackmount the same time I had an early (SN was under 200 I believe, it was crazy early, reverse chassis, paid $800 for it!) dual recto, he had a rackmount, I preferred his slightly to mine. Had a tighter low end, but they were real close. Played a friend's 3 channel years later, and the dual or rackmount would have killed it.

Pete

if he decides to take less i would give him 1500 for it and thats more than i could have bought it for 2 years ago, ive been wanting to try one but not for 2k.

Look at the prices for some of the most stupid guitars that are sig models and what they go for, everything has a buyer.

$2500 ???

Spendy, sure, is it worth it? It's worth what someone will pay.

On the other hand, I've seen pre 500's in worse condition go for over $2k. This one is pretty much mint.

Collectors example of the Dual Rectifier.

..well I questioned it as these were going for $1700 back when people were spending....now, not so much.

I hope he gets what he needs on it....and since I'm not a prospective buyer, I'll shut up now :D
