So I picked up one of these. I always wanted to have something hands on for checking my power tubes for drifting, bad tube(s). After watching some clips and reading testimonies I decided to buy one. I called my amp tech and brought it to his shop. He has heard of these but never used one. He hooked it up to an old SLP and was amazed how dead nuts it was to the traditional way of measuring/biasing tubes. Anyway....works great for a (speaking for myself) amateur.

No offense, and maybe I didn't read the brochure all of the way through, but I don't understand how this is any different from the 'traditional way of measuring/biasing tube' amps

It looks similar to other probes/kits from places like Weber.

PS: You don't bias the tubes - you bias the amp.

The traditional way is plugging tubes directly into the amps sockets (not into a bias device with sockets that are plugged into the amp and then tubes plugged into the device's sockets) and just using a multimeter and its probes taking readings from within the amp chassis for first plate voltage and then setting bias. Maybe you misunderstood his post?
So in summary traditionally you do not use one of these newfangled devices to set voltage but instead a multimeter.

As sjk said....you did not understand the post.

P.S. Thanks professor. You are right. You bias the amp.
