First thing first is I need a pickup set for my 68ri Les Paul Custom and it seams like the 2nd degree Black Belt is the way to go but what kind of spacing do I get 50mm or 53mm? Also should I go with the 2 or 4 conductor, I like the way Cantrell's Les Paul sounds so I would lean more toward what he uses.

Second question is I want to get a Afwayu for my G&L Rampage, once again what string spacing do I get since it has a Kahler and 2 or 4 conductor?

Well, I went with the 2 pole 2nd Deg. BB for my LPC, as they aren't all that high of output and from what Wade told me, I'd be better off with the Afwayu if I wanted to split 'em.

Btw, I wanna get an Afwayu for my Rampage as well...sorry, don't know what spacing to go with. Mine is only the Tribute version, btw...I'm sure the US version is even better, but it was a great deal for the price.

I believe most les pauls use the standard spaced pickup at the bridge (50mm) and most fender type guitars and guitars with trems use the f spacing (53mm). So probably standard spacing (50mm) for the LP and F spacing (53mm) for the G&L.

Jerry Cantrell is currently using a 2nd degree in the bridge of his LPs and Afwayu in the bridge of the G&Ls.

I usually go with the 4 conductor just in case you ever want to use the split coil. If you are never going to use split coil then either will work. I could never really tell any difference soundwise between the 4 and 2 conductor wire.

Yeah that Cantrell video sold me. I ordered the Afwayu from Wade as soon as I heard that killer tone. I know it was the 50mm 4 conductor in my case for the Les Paul in case I want to coil tap it.

Grab a ruler or tape measure and measure the distance from your high E string to your low E string right between the bridge pickup and the bridge.
That's your string spacing for your bridge pickup.

Yes, this is the best way, then you know for sure. Many of my Les Pauls have had the so-called "Fender" or "Trem" spacing, many newer Gibsons do. I would guess a 68 RI does have the 50mm spacing though. The kahler more than likely has the 53mm spacing.

You will only need 4 conductor if you plan to wire the pickups up for coil splitting or parallel wiring. When wired up in series 2 and 4 conductor will sound the exact same.

I'd take 4 conductor & at least have an option to coil tap neck pickup.

I'm pretty sure Jerry Cantrell has his own signature MCP now, you might want to check into it

I'd try standard spacing - Traditional all the way, except for the tone ;)

If you have the Kahler system, the saddles are adjustable from side to side also so spacing will really never be an issue with a Rampage- Even the cheap ones (which do have shallow pickup cavitys so short legs baseplates are essential....

according to Wade, Dave Friedman and Takumi Suetsugu (his previous tech), the Jerry's Les Paul has an Afwayu, not a Black Belt

Jerry does have a signature model now that is based off the Afwayu.

wasn't the afwayu already revoiced?

The revoiced Afwayu became the new Cantrell pickup, which will eventually be officially released with it's own name. But the standard Afwayu that's available now is the same voicing as always. At least this is what I understood the last time I talked to Wade.
