Had one of these a few years back and had a really awsome Nuno/Vito Bratta Marshally tone through two 4x12 cabs. But I had a junky poweramp. For those of you who are using them, what power amp are you using???? Marshall monobloc? VHT? Mesa? Give me some ideas

I like the 3TM in the power section of my Mark III or Recto.

Not using mine live anymore but had it paired up with a Mesa 2:90 for many years in my rig...they work well together.

Where you happy with that set up Rupe?? I'm sure volume was not an issue with the 2:90 !

I used to use mine through the power section of my DSL50, I now use an ADA T100S power amp.

Yeah, I really was. I used essentially that same rig for hard rock/classic metal from '88 - '09 (added the 2:90 in '92)...swapped out the pre several times (Fish, Triaxis, Triple Giant, Quad, some H&K thing, Trio, JMP1, and a few others) and always came back to the MP1. The only reason I went Axe-FX last year was for a lighter, more portable rig.
The 2:90 really helped the ADA out...I wasn't nearly as happy with it until then but I was on limited funds and bought the ADA based on hype at the time (regretted it a bit until the 2:90 came along). The 2:90 smoothed out some of the "rattiness" and just made it sound bigger.
Also, I'm not a big fan of BBE units in most rigs but they really seem to pair up well with the MP1 (especially the 422a).

FWIW, I ran my MP-1 + MQ-1, and a MP-2 into the ADA B200S solid state power amp (into 4 ADA splitstacks (2x12 cabs) 2 per side) which worked great for me for many years. I used ADA for my bass rig for a very long time too. I was a big ADA fanboi back in the day.

I highly recommend an EQ for the MP-1, the MQ-1 was great, as it was MIDI and I had a number of different EQ curve presets, that I could apply to any preset in the MP-1 and get a number of variations of my core tones. The MP-2 has an internal secondary EQ stage at the end of the chain so I didn't need an outboard eq. MP-2 is a PITA to dial in, very tedious IMO. That said, spam: I have one lookin for a good home. ;)

So it seems the 2:90 is the winner so far. I always thought the Marshall mono block el34 was my best bet, but ....any other suggestions????

Ya, I used 1 for many years. MP1-BBE422A-Mesa 295-2 4x12's. The BBE really helps with the MP1.

I use mine for practice and recording into Cab Impulses etc.

Tip for MP1 users- they run the tubes instead of 12 volts ( the 12 in 12 AX7 ) at about 9 volts- some tubes don't work too well , JJs ALWAYS seem to work and I have a feeling the large plate jj 803s may have a bigger beefier sound ( It does in my Tubeman) but haven't tried in my MP1.

Again, there's lots of tubes that work in MP1 but JJs ALWAYS do.

By the way Guitarslinger was one of the guys who reassured me that the MP1 is a versatile pro unit even for non metal- he was right(read a lot of his posts on other forum-very knowledgeable on preamps). Thanks again Guitarslinger .

Used a MP-1 with a Carvin 50/50 T100 power amp with El34's and it screamed.
It really warmed up the tones over SS power amps.
