Question for Kitchen Sink Owners

I received my Kitchen Sink Modded Metropoulos '68 12000 series. Sounds great, but for some reason there is a static sound when I move the volume pot on any of my guitars and only if I'm plugged into the BE input. It doesn't happen when plugged into the HBE input and the toggles make no difference.

Dave suggested that it could be the BE preamp tube, but I ruled that out after swapping the BE/HBE and trying just about every preamp tube I own. He said that I can also try a small .1 cap on the 'in' of the BE tube. I would really rather not have another tech touch this amp and all I want to know is whether this is normal or not.

So....does this happen to anyone when plugged into the BE input? It,s the same sound that you get when moving the volume pot on an Ultimate Attenuator and once again it only happens when plugged into the BE input.

p.s. I've never heard this with any of my other amps so it's not my guitars either.

Thanks!
Jeff

 I have noticed anything like that with my Ks modded marshall. Been playing it for the last few days andI gotta say I am impressed with it. I am so happy with it I am shipping out a Marshall jubilee cause I think the KS modded amp does what the jubilee does better. And a whole lot more.
You got to have some isolated thing. Maybe look at the bottom of the pre amp tube sockets and make sure you don't see a bad connection, also do you have any tube shields on the pre amp tubes? Not sure if that may make a difference. Every now and again you get a crazy little glitch. Amps are like little personalities.  Other guys may stop in to lend more info. Good luck and be careful with it. :)

I do have tube shields, but this happens with or without them. The amp does sound great, but the problem is you can't ride the guitar's volume. Maybe something came lose on that socket? Some sort of grounding perhaps? Don't know, just talking out my ass..

just checked the Brown Eye mod on BOTH of my friedman-modded amps and...NO weird static noise of any kind while rotating the "volume" knob of my guitar.sorry, man!

Nah. I been where you are at. It is frustrating. I got a Silver jubilee one time. MINT was the term given to me. That fkr totally quit on me after 20 minutes of playing. Hold everything!
I got a Slash Jubilee one time and MINT! was also the term I was given. That amp quit on me also within less than 30 minutes of playing. In this amps case it was a effects loop problem. Cost $40.00 to fix and I have never had another problem out of it.
Hang in there if it is a problem there is gonna be an answer.

No such problem with my KS Super Trem. Damn quiet with the volume rolled off on both BE and HBE. Sorry!

No its not normal and I would like to see what it is. So if you ship it back I will fix it and then send it back free of charge to you. So I pay one way and you pay the other. Dave

Dave, I sent you an email. Thanks/Jeff

For anyone who is interested, the amp had a bad resistor. Should be getting it back tomorrow. Can't wait
