I am considering putting some Suhr Aldrich pickups in one of my Les Paul's. For those who have tried them are you using both the neck and bridge or just the bridge? I am slightly concerned that the neck may be too hot....

All of my guitars that have Aldrich pickups have them in both positions. Not too hot IMO. I really like this pickup a lot. I have it in LP's and also my Suhr strat types. If you feel it is too hot, just lower the pickup a little bit from the strings. I am sure you will find a positive situation with them.

Good Luck

I have a McCarty with both, I love the neck pup, it is hot, but I don't think its too hot. It is very vocal, wich I love, it splits well, and its very balanced. Rolls off well, too. Good stuff - Jim

I love the Aldrich pup! I have a pair in my Les Paul G0 and Suhr Standard, supposedly a hot pickup, but it rolls off very nicely, and through my Variplex it covers a ton of tonal ground and gets a great clean with rolloff of the volume.

I can't help.

I have 3 of the bridge models

What guitars do you have them in?

Gutierrez Maple/Wenge/Ebony Juggernaut
Ibanez basswood RG760
Charvel basswood Predator

It sounds equally good in all three guitars.

It's pretty similar to the JB, except infinitely more complex. It's really just about perfect.

Do you have pickup covers on the one in your Les Paul?

That sounds like what I am looking for. I like the Rio Grande BBQ in my other 2 Les Paul's, but I am looking for something a little different.....

Nope, I like the look of it without the covers

i've got covered and uncovered, but haven't gotten around to getting the covered put in. i'll try and get covered put in tonight and holler, only problem is the covered is going in a drop tuned guitar.

I have one in the bridge of my Ibanez RG570. I love it! Although I haven't tried very many different bridge pickups in that guitar, the Aldrich is the best I've tried in that particular guitar. There is some nice chunk happening in the lower strings, the mids are nice and the highs are just right.

I'm used to playing Gibson Les Pauls and the Aldrich in the RG570 satisfies me for that particular guitar. It splits well too.

I hate to SPAM troll, but I have a brand new set of uncovered, black, Aldrich's. Totally unused. 50mm size for the Les Paul.

PM me if you are interested!

I had a gold covered Rio Grande BBQ and now have a uncovered BBQ in my LP studio. The Gold covered one sounded different and not as good and it was the same guitar. That is why I ask...

I actually saw that spam thread Joe. If they were nickel covered I would pick them up in a minute. I held up some black pickups to my les paul and I think they would look pretty bad. I just hope the covered ones sound the same...

I have a set in my Les Paul and I really like them! Hot, but not too hot. Very clear. I also had a set in a PRS Hiland that I used to have. Sounded great in that guitar as well.
