Ok so I think that I may need to buy a road case soon. Not because I will be touring or anything (yet), but I think Where I will be living that I will have to keep my VH4 and Cab in the garage. With that, I was wondering, would that be a bad environment for the VH4 and the cab if, lets say, it comes to be around winter time? I am pretty certain that the garage is not heated and it is separate from the house.

I mean I could lug all my equipment, by myself, all the way to the house and the back to the garage every day, but that would totally blow haha. So, do you think it is necessary for me to buy a road case for the head and my 4x12? If so, what brand? Do you think that around winter time that the cold would be horrible on not only the amplifier but also the speakers of the cab? That would be my assumption if it gets to be pretty cold. I was thinking, during winter time, I could lug it into the house and maybe just keep it there and practice at lower volumes...

I don't really know what to do yet haha.

It's the dampness in the air that you would need to be concerned about. A better option would be to move someone out of the house and turn it into a room for them while you and the VH4 stay nice and cozy in the house

At the very least though, yes - get a road case for the head. I prefer Rock Hard Cases. They are up in Oregon. You can check their website. I have 4 or 5 cases from them. Tell them you want the doors sealed with weatherstripping.

During the winter time, I will for sure store it in the house, but out of just respect, even though they said its all good to play it in the basement, I will still try to play it in the garage barn thing through the year, but only if it will be fine in the colder seasons. I don't want to risk any damage to the head or the cab. The only problem I could see in the colder months, when I lug it out from the house to the barn, is damage to the speakers becaue the cold could make them brittle? I don't know for sure, but that is my assumption. Maybe, if while I am practicing in the cold, I could point a heater at the cab? I am pretty sure the barn is not heated.

Oh sweet! I will check them out for sure! I would have never thought of doing that haha!

you're not really giving enough info to give advice.

allmost sounds like you need another 4x12, more than a roadcase?

no way in hell i'm leaving my VH4 in a non climate controlled barn. beater 4x12 i would.

Hey! Shit. That is a perfect ideal! A beater 4x12. You sir, have solved my problem haha.

Sorry for my lack of information, but here is the situation in a nut shell: I am moving out of my apartment to my girlfriend's parent's house in the middle of nowhere. That means I can crank my amp up as loud as I want. I made sure it was fine with them and they said it is all good and I can play it in the basement or the garage which is a barn seperate from the house about 50 ft away. I will play in the basement when they aren't home and out in the garage when they are. I will do that because I feel it is way to loud to play down there. I was wondering mainly if I were to leave the amp and cab out in the garage if it would cause damage if they were in a good road case. That would be only during the warm months and for the cold ones, I would lug the amp in and out of the house only if the cold weather would not pose harm during the transport from inside to the cold outside and practice in a cold enviorment. My main concern for damage during the cold season would be the cab speakers, but a beater cab would be a good solution if it is ok for the amp to run in a cold garage. I mean, I can always play it in the basement, but I would feel very rude if it was just too loud, even if they don't care at all, which they don't haha. Either way, a road case for my $5,000 amp is a good ideal, so that I will do and I shall look into a beater cab haha!

Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Don't trip and bust your ass in the snow between the house and the barn. How ironic would that be?

Oh that would suck ass. The Diezel would probably survive, but considering I am this 120lb skinny little shit, I would probably end up being crushed by it haha.

Pray for me haha. I need all of your energy to give me strength

maybe beater amp also?

or hell maybe a $30 app for the Iphone and rock some headphones?

ain't gonna be too much fun out there when it's -10 anyways.

that would make a good movie scene, crushed by VH4 and then frozen solid.

+ 1 on Rockhard cases. When I had my Herbert, they built me a nice case for the head and my rack gear. Quality stuff, short build time and reasonable price.
