So I traded my 2008 for a Gold Top Carvin CT4. Pickups have been upgraded to a Suhr Aldrich set. The guitar was built in 2009. Plays great. This clip is LITERALLY my first check to make sure everything worked on the guitar. No post processing, eq'ing, etc. Audio was captured with the Voice Memo app built into the iPhone.

I have the Tascam im2 coming in today so I am looking forward to that. I'll do a proper run-through on the Quick Rod as I haven't done any clips yet.

The set up is:

Splawn Quick Rod (2013) - 3rd Gear
Splawn 2x12's
Celestion Creambacks
Carvin CT4
Suhr Pickups

NICE !! I don't think that clip does it full justice though. The amp should have a stronger mid voicing to it correct ??
It absolutely has a good strong mid voicing. The amp was left dialed in for my Mammoth Custom SS with a Duncan Custom in the bridge. I did no tweaking or dialing in. Just plug, play, record.

I was really testing out the Carvin to make sure it was functioning properly and decided to record it.

Cool clip. Nice rhythm playing, real aggressive and groovy. I have a 2013 QR coming tomorrow for a record I'm doing. Really excited. The QR was one of my favorite amps I played at my ampfest. I still remember how it lit the room up. Those amps have like a little quack to them that just makes them special. Incredible for recording and especially doubling. So tight and articulate. Thanks for the clip man. Nice chops.

Try this on 1st gear OD2...
Will do. So many good tones in this amp. Can't wait to do my first show with it in a few weeks. I am going to do some proper vids this weekend.

Thanks for the compliments! I am really happy with the amp. Loving the Carvin as well. The QR is very reminiscent of my VHT Deliverance 120 in feel/attack.

Jer, how would you compare the creambacks to v30's? A higher power greenback has me intrigued...

Honestly Nate I haven't played through a V30 cab in almost 2 years after I sold my Madisons. I was on the Fryette with P50E's and then the Black Shadows. What I can say is that the Creambacks mid range, IMHO, is more present/open and aggressive. When I listen back to clips of my Deliverance with the Madison cabs they sound darker and more scooped.

I have used the Creambacks with my Mesa F-50, Dual Rec and now the Splawn and in all instances they just sound very aggressive/pissed. Not sure if this helps. I will also say, the Splawn cabs deliver a lot of low end yet are not muddy at allm if that makes sense.

how do you like those aldrich pick ups?

Man that tone is very heavy!

I love them! This is my first experience with them. I will do some tone comparisons this weekend between the Suhr Aldrich, Duncan Custom and Duncan JB. Someone mentioned in another thread that the Aldrich was similar to a JB but more pronounced. I think that is a fairly accurate statement.

Thanks for checking it out. I am really loving the Splawn rig.

I was the one (among others who said that to you) which is why i was curious if you ended up liking them. Im glad you did and that you were not steered wrong.
