For all those that were ever curious about the reliability and workmanship of a b52, here's a quick gut shot:

It seems the quality is good and the parts are decent. The overheating when running class A (cathode bias) issue seems to be cause of a resistor poorly placed (too close to the heat) and ventilation wasn't properly thought out. Almost seems like an after thought. Had Glen Morris of Morris amps fix up these problems. Everything is CSA approved here which is comforting. I think these amps have great potential, if only if they weren't assembled in china and if the headshell was actually made of birch ply (only the braces are) and not pressboard ala 5150s.

I've got a AT-60 112 combo. Has been a great amp for yrs. Bought it because it actually had some thump for a 112. I have other amps as well, but I've got this one plugged into the 412 now. Didn't Bruce Egnater design this series?

yessir he did as far as i know, and i could be wrong. The story goes egnater designed it and sold his designs to the b52 fellas, who then went to china for the manufacturing/production.

Nice pics. A buddy of mine has one and it sounds damn good for the $$$.
