three of the best i've played:

suhr fletcher landau standards in mexi maple/alder strat w/ vintage style bridge

kinman avn 59s in tyler ash/rosewood strat w/ wilkerson bridge

fralin vintage hots in 57 reissue maple/alder strat w/ callaham bridge

all three clips were using the neck/middle position for high chime and quack

into stock fender super champ xd combo on blackface clean channel, w/ built in verb/delay

monster 12 foot gtr cable

miced w/ 1-shure 57 and 1 - shure 58 on the cone
barely panned l/r---no eq/outboard fx

bling bling

The Kinman to me had this thing going on the higher pitched notes I was not digging, sure with a re-eq it would be gone but the rest of the scale would suffer imo. Maybe too much quack for me.

My fav were the Fralins, softer but maintained some spank.................tad smoother.

That said they all sounded great Pat

exactly how i felt---

the kinmans felt more ceramic and stiff/hard overall, and tonally the FLs and the fralins were pretty close in terms of chime and attack on the front end of the note, which ranks the FLS very high in my book, but the fralins had a slight edge in terms of smoother resonance and sustain and that old worn in alnico flavor.

ultimately the true comparison would be putting all three sets in the same guitar, but this at least gives some insight into these bad boys from a pure clean fender platform.

If I heard them each separately they would all sound perfectly fine to me. A/B/C'ing like this I like the FLs...they just have a clarity to them that I like and that I hear in my own. You can really hear the fingers and strings. Of course who knows if that's the pickups or the guitar in this case. I'd be interested to hear the FLs and Fralins a/b'ed, swapping the same neck back and forth between the two bodies. If you are digging the more worn-in vibe, you might prefer the V60LPs to the FLs?

FL's....balanced, responsive and pure, my choice out of the three. The Kinmans sounded like Fender noiseless ceramics to me, kinda hard. Fralins sounded great too and maybe a good choice for country-style tones. great playing btw!

what do you think about the amps tone?
this little super champ xd sounds pretty sweet to me.

Sounded killer.

Very nice! I pretty much agree with whats already been posted, the FL's were very sweet and clear, great chime. The Fralins sounded similar but a little warmer, also very nice. By comparison the Kinmans sounded a little hard a dull, definitely not as pleasing as the other two.

at $280 i can see getting a pair of these for a mini ej clean rig!
add a coyote for the plexi tones and your mini multiamp rig is complete!

yeah i knew went i went from the fralins to the kinmans i was giving up some single coil authenticity but the silent operation was the deciding factor.
it's nice to have these FLs in the house.
