quick swap pickups!!!

someone should invent something for music stores that allows you to put in and take out pickups in a matter of seconds. trying different pickups out is an arduous process of trial and error. just took out black irons and put in suhr ssv+ and ssv. I love the black irons compared to the suhrs, guess I not only got used to mid or hi output pickups, but now favor them!!!!!!! if I had not traded and sold the black irons they would go right back in!!! too bad you cant go to a music store and try like 10 or 15 different pickups in a matter of minutes!!!

I agree, but that would decrease sales too, as undoubtedly some manufacturers want you to buy a couple before settling in.

I have seen something along the lines of what you are referring to, though. I think it was a demo Les Paul, that had squares of wood routed away, and identical squares with pickups mounted on them. There was a "connection" made when the blocks with the hard mounted pickups, were inserted. Also if I remember, the blocks were inserted from the back of the guitar to avoid re-tuning, and it seems like there was ALOT of wood missing / routed away, on the back of the LP.
