Do they exist? Something that doesn't have the typical hiss and buzz?

Yes, there are many amps out there that are quite high gain; you will find a nice array of diversity.

Sorry, couldn't resist. In all seriousness though, I don't know. Probably, someone else will have to chime in though. My EVH 50 was decently quiet for the amount of gain it had. I heard the 6505's are quite (hah) noisy though.

The Marshall JVM410HJS (Satriani version) has a built in noise gate. It's amazing (nice and quite ;) and i find it hard now using amps that dont have one. Boss NS-2 pedal works great in front of any amp though to kill noise.

every high gain amp I have ever had is quieter when you turn the gain down a bit...but meh what the hell is the point of that     :D

My SLO wasn't all that quiet, though it was from '89 with original caps.

I've had a few Diezel VH4s that were dead silent until you hit the strings.

I say just find the tone you want out of whatever amp you prefer and throw a decimator in front of it. Works for me and countless others. You can't avoid high gain hiss..although the quietest I've had were Cameron Marshalls.

Thanks guys, I am thinking of buying Friedman Double J, I will give it a go with the Decimator.

ALL modern high gain amps are gonna be a little noisy. It's the nature of the beast. I had a modded Marshall that squealed if I just looked at.

The SLO was not "noisy" to me, but there was significantly more hum and such than the Diezels. The Diezels also were quieter than my Recto.

I always see posts like this. For me the decimator has not really worked in the front. I get pretty good hiss removal in the loop though. Knob at about 11 o'clock or so. In front has never really helped for me. Most of you guys run it in the front?

Diezel
Friedman
Have all been dead quite for me.

Rhodes comes to mind too , and I would assume Bongers are quite as well.

In the loop to remove preamp hiss. Up front to control feedback during muting.

I have found some amps power sections noisier than others, but that's being way picky.
