i have gotten to the point where i hate to use my alesis midi verb anymore because of how it "taints my tone"!!

what are people using in a rack form that wont sterilize my tube tone!!....that wont set me back 4 figures!!..ha!

You can get a TC Electronics G-Sharp for $250.00. I am currently using a G-Major with my Suhr mini Mix.
I had a G-sharp, but I sold it and my Time Factor. I am now selling the G-Major and buying a Time Factor again and another reverb unit. I probably will get the G-Sharp again.  Funny how that shit works out.

I agree with Code, the Intellifex is nice, and can be had for a song. I have the oldest version, and it`s a really nice piece. The only thing I`d like it to have, is a parametric eq (for lead boost), and maybe a relay for changing channels, like the G-major.

Rocktron's successor to the Intellifex is the Xpression and that's $400 at Musician's Friend. It's got a few more features (like para EQ) and a bit more processing power. I'm weird and have some strange aversion to buying used so the Xpression is where I'd look first but honestly, the Intellifex units are really damn good.

They also don't sound as good as the Intellifex, IMO. The Replifex and MultiValve are basically the same thing, but with channel switching.

jessexxx, I forgot to mention that if you find an Intelliverb or Intellipitch, you should get that. They generally go for ~500ish used, though. I got my Intellifex for $140 shipped with a 4u rack, so there are definitely deals out there if you look.

You're not the first I've heard that from. I like both the Xpression and the Intellifex but I never had a chance to play them against each other. I owned them years apart from each other.

One thing I'll mention about the Xpression that's a big negative in my book is the fucking enraging tap tempo light. The constant blinking made me want to club baby seals. And not in the good way. Kind of defeats the purpose of the tap tempo light if you have to tape over it. I don't know why it bugged me so much but it was the next to main reason I sold mine after two weeks. (The main was to move to a POD.)

  I just ignore mine. I never use tap tempo anyway, so I have never really paid attention to it. Besides, blinking LEDs = the epitome of coolness. :D

I usually agree. Hell, I had a string of red computer (blinking) Xmas lights up in my old room for years! :D I think it was the shade of blue maybe. It was just so maddening!

If you're on a budget definitly check out the Eventide H8000

Just kiddin :D If you want purely just reverb then you could pick up a dedicated reverb unit like a Lexicon or an older Roland (SRV2000).

If you want delays and chorus's aswell as reverbs, then grab something like a G-Major, G-force, Intellifex (blackface) or a Boss SE-70 (Half rack size is a big plus for me!)

Lexicon: PCM 70, PCM 80, PCM-81, MPX1

I LOVE my PCM-80... When I got it (previously using the Intellifex BF) I realized the PCM-80 was "THAT" sound I had been hearing all these years.

thanx for the replies guys,...having never used any of your suggestions...let me ask this...is it gonna "hi-fi" my sound???...i am basicaly just looking for a reverb,...every fx processor i have ever used diminishes my tube tune..has anyone got any experience with any old school tube or analog reverbs in a rack form???...how do they interact with your sound???..

thanx again for your input.

re: "hi-fi" your sound: It can, but doesn't have to--IMO, one of the coolest things about the suggestions I made-- are the options that they make available. Each unit has it's own sonic character... this much is certain.

I researched my heroes tones to see what gear were they using to accomplish the sounds I liked and then got those devices (Amps, Cabs, Speakers, Pedals, Rack gear, Guitars, Pickups), and ran them in a similar way.
