I think it sounds pretty badass, lots of nice medium gain tones in there...

WOW!!!

Thanks for posting, I know this shit is time consuming.

I like it, maybe not THE ideal tone for me but I'll be damned if you can not find a usable tone from that beast. It is like 15 amps in one.

Everything from clean to metal and everything in between.

I wonder how it would sound with KT88?

Also curious how does it feel in the room? Is it wide? and to you is each channel just another gain stage or are there voicing options as well? Hard for me to tell without spending alot of time with the video.

What sounds good here is the recording, good job (and thanks)

The amp in itself, to me, doesn't sound like anything special though

I liked it. Thanks for posting. Lots of tones I really liked. The basic tone of the amp sounds really good to me.

When you say spending lots of time with the video...do you mean actually watching like all 11 minutes or so of it?

Haha no, I meant going home and listening on a better speaker system than these crappy headphones I have at work and then listening 2-3 times to try and hear if the voicing changes at all.

With the headphones I have now it did not sound like there were any voicing options and the channels gave more gain stages as you go up but I am unsure what the buttons are that you were changing with each channel.

I thought maybe a bright switch, boost switch or a voicing switch or something.

Good job Reza. Randall should be sending you royalty checks for taking the time to do this. There's a little bit of something in it for everybody.

Right on man...THANKS for taking the time to post this thorough run through Reza. I have to tell you that this amp sounds pretty damn good to my ears....And almost impossibly versatile. I'm actually shocked at how cool a lot of the mid-gain, "in between" tone are on this thing. Reza....Sounds like you really dig it???

I'm a Diezel guy (like you), and as you know we tend to have pretty discriminating tastes and a "high bar" on good tones.

Sounds great! Seems very versatile, lots of tones to be had..thanks for the work!

Thanks Reza.
This amp does sound like it's got something in there for everybody.

QUESTION: Reza...How's it do at reasonable living-room volumes? That's one of the things I love about the Herbert is it sounds full and aggressive at low volumes.

I guess I'll disagree with everyone
There's basically one tone in there, with lots of options affecting gain and EQ
Everything sounded the same to me in that clip, same gain voicing for all the channels

Your absolutely right, they missed the whole soldano/marshall/Diezel/Bogner/Splawn/cornford/dumble/fender/ thing where the amp sounds completely different with a switch, they should have just made it a line 6....

In that optic, are 6 channels and a million switches necessary in order to shape the same basic sound?
Don't all other amps achieve this with 2-3 channels?

Good points

I guess owning too many amps skews my view. I tend to pick the best channel/mode out of one amp and forget the rest. If someone came to me and said "I'll give you 1000$ to strip your VH4 of 2 of its channels", I'd gladly say yes. I would always rather have 2 excellent one-trick pony amps than one average does-it-all amp. Again, personal preference ;)

Sure but what is "average" to you. Is fuckin badass to someone else. And those one trick ponies are great but only if thats the only trick you need. (hence why I don't own an Uberschall)

Well obviously, I'm not talking specific amps, just as a general rule

wait, whats the rule?

"I would always rather have 2 excellent one-trick pony amps than one average does-it-all amp."

And that's a personal rule ;)

Amp sounds pretty versatile to my ears....And I own 2 different high end, "boutique" 4 channel amps.

Doing some math on the back of a bar napkin here, you can look at it this way........each pair is sort of an extension of the other. Channel 1/2 would be some sort of Fender type voicing, Channels 3/4 in the Marshall realm and 5/6 in the Boogie corner.

6 channels, each with bright switches, each pair with 3 way mid voicing, each channel with programmable LMH gain voicing, each channel with programmable boost. There'a also a programmable MV2.

6 channels with bright on or off. There's 12 options.
12 settings with 3 way mid voicing. There's 36 options
36 settings with LMH gain boost. There's 108 options
108 settings boosted or not. There's 216 options.
216 settings with MV2. There's 432 options.

So, with 432 options at your fingers from 6 channels, how the hell can a person not find something in the this relatively low priced amp that they can get on with?

On top of all this, each power tube has an external bias for running singles, pairs, quads with a broad bias capability to run form 6L6's up to 88's. Tone are unlimited from this bad boy.

Thanks for the demo. Any chance of some gut shots?

I have to admit I'm curious what the chassis guts look like as well... :)
