I can address this since I am an 80's guy!
The amps will be able to cover any territory. Here is something that I learned over the years from being an amp hoarder and tone seeker for many years. When it comes to gained out amps I think it has more to do with the style you play then the voicing. What I mean is that when I play through ANY OF THE MODERN amps out today, I sound very 80's because of my style. The modern amps might come voiced with more lower mids which people deem to be more MODERN but when I play my 80's licks through them.... The amps sounds very 80's and I've already proven this to kids/players who are younger then me and play a different style and use different tunings
These amps can cover a lot of ground and they aren't one trick ponies. Anyone who digs high gain regardless of style should be very happy
On another note My case and point about style has already been proven.
When Ola Englund was at Mike Fortins house, He let Ola play through one of his Original Jose modded amplifiers from back in the day. When Ola did a clip through that amp, an amp that was voiced in the late 70's/80's it sounded modern because of Ola's style. When I played through it, It sounded like 80's metal hahahahaha.
Mike modded one of my personal amps for Ola to the same spec as the Jose and the same thing happens, when he plays it with a TS808, boosting it it sounds killer/Modern... Me through the same setup, It sound like John Sykes (welll I wish.. but you get the idea hahahahaha
Oh and just a bit of info, They are tweaking an amp for Lynch right now, so if anyone disagrees with anything I just said, that alone should give you ammo that an 80's type non brutal amp will be available
All the best!!
