Hey guys, it is my birthday so I decided when i saw a good ebay deal on a used Lynch box with modules that I'd grab it. Been tinkering with some amps i built over the last little while but i have grown tired of tinkering and just want to play. Any tips for coaxing even better sounds out of it? Down the line I'm def. going to get a BE mod but for now, I'll just enjoy the SL+ and Brahma modules that are in the amp. I also noticed that you can see a layout of each of the modules on the grail site, anyone have tips for small mods to remove fizz etc.. or do you guys like the modules straight up as they are?

You can also buy modded modules and 3rd party modules. I'm sure there's a forum for Randall modules where you can ask someone for the schematic of their modded modules, whether it be ones they've modded personally or by somebody else.

Cheers,

The Rm100 is a Tweakers paradise for the modules!
I owned 5 of them. The only amp work I done was swap the Output transformer on it.
Here is the board you wanna check out and join....

Have fun with that amp!!
Alot of good tones to be had!

I think it was danhops (?) who had the power section of one of these modded by Friedman to make it a bit more 'marshally' ... with a couple of modded modules on hand I know he loves/loved the tones.

EDIT: Fizz taming? Stay away from the Bright Switch and Presence...experiment with the balance of channel volume to master volume...really they do sound a feel a little different...and a crazy trick, if you've nothing in the parallel FX loop...turn the FX loop up to max seems to make a difference to the tone..fuller and warmer in the mids (at least based on the low volumes I play at)

I like to keep the gain knobs around noon or under and boost for the heavier tones I want. The louder the amp, the lower the treble knob on mine.

Thanks for the tips guys.. i also personally use boost pedals just to tighten low end and avoid the flubbies and fizzies from running an amp full pin with the preamp wide open. If anything, I will use my attenuator as well so i can get as much power tube mojo as I can get. Mod wise i find it interesting that there are a lot of modders, but not alot of DIY remove this or that resistor to tame this or that frequency. The brown module for example, really looks like a Plexi with a few diff parts.. I'm assuming most of the modules follow very similar preamp layouts.

Correct. Go to Google and search Randall amp forum. It will direct you to Grailtone. You will need some odd code to be able to log in (it was just posted on here a day or so ago) but once in, you will be able to find the answers. Trust me, there are plenty of people tweaking these mods.
