Can you use whatever power tubes you want with this amp and just bias it up with no mods? Mine has 6L6's.

No. I think you can only use 6l6 or kt66, not positive, but I'm just about sure.

For the most part, yes. I've had 3 MTS units- the RM20 combo, the RM100 head and the RM100 combo. I've tried a bunch of power tubes and swapping them in and out was easy. Biasing the tubes was pretty simple as well. I don't think a RM100 would work with el84's though. It would be too much power for the tubes to handle.

thanks, I thought that I had read that you can just swap out and bias. I biased the tubes that are in there and I noticed right away that the bias sweep was wide, you barely turn the bias pot and it makes a huge difference. So I imagine that it can accomadate just about anything except low power tubes which I wouldnt try anyway but thanks for the info. I'll probably put in some el34's sometime.

check the manual, it has bias settings for just about any power tube....

I have had a couple RM50's and RM100's. I have used 6550's, EL34's, and 6L6's in several combinations. You can use just about whatever you want in there. The smaller bottles I am not too sure about though.

That is so awesome, Maybe I will go kt88, but it's a 2/12 combo so I probably just stick to el34's.
