Interesting stuff. Smith released this video today, where he goes into some of the history of the Rectifier. At about 2/3rds through the video, he said that he wanted to change the Soldano preamp circuit, but that the other people at Boogie told him not to change it because it sounded great (with their power amp). He also credited Mike Soldano, although he states the obvious that the Recto does not sound like an SLO.

He also mentioned a hilarious story about some disability advocate who tried to sue the Hollywood store because the store had a step in the front door. The Boogie store had a side door for people in wheelchairs (with no step) but the person complained it should be in the front. LOL. Pathetic that these kinds of lawsuits are taken seriously. If I were I judge, I would laugh my ass off and throw it in the trash.
