After reading some of the negativity on some of these boards I was a little bit apprehensive after going thru with a trade of the ENGL Fireball 100 for the Thrasher. It was supposedly this dry ass amp that compared to VHT's which I am not a fan of. No offense to VHT owners
At first it was a little bit meh dialing it in at home. But I took that thing to band practice last night and it performed very very well. Fat and clear and tight. I do prefer to use a slight OD boost (A quick FU to you purists who frown on boosts
) instead of the one built into the amp. I love my Route 808 and it always does what I want. Anyway to all you goofs who either can't dial in an amp or have shit for ears the Randall Thrasher sounds great at band volumes. It is completely different to anything I have own/used (and have owned/tried alot of amps over the years) but in quite a good way.
My only thing now is try some different tube variants as I'm not completely happy with the softer mids of the 6L6's that came with it. I know OLA's sig amp has KT88's in his paired with 6L6's if I'm not mistaken. Or I used to love E34L's in my MTS Randalls. Anyway I like it so suck it
Ralph (Gainfreak) you were right dude
