They sound great in front of a stock Super Lead too with a frown pattern and a very slight boost. Everyone talks about how quiet they are but mine seems pretty noisy. For an EVH type tone I can't figure out if I like the GE-10 or the MXR 6-Band better. The Boss is smoother but the MXR is meaner. I guess that's why Eddie had both of these EQ's on his pedalboard in the early days.

You know, that's all well and good and everything, but where the hell is the YouTube video of the discovery...? :gethim:

Have you thought about picking up one of those little loop boxes that is true bypass? That way you don't have to mod the pedal itself.

If there's no YouTube thread by tomorrow I'm cancelling your order you sent me for 2 jars of Fresh Balls.

It really baffles me as to why no one has ever made a re-issue of that EQ. I'ts definitelty one of the best EQ's Ive ever heard especially for guitar.

I've used the Boss EQ for years and it worked well for me, especially when used as a solo boost. Great for tweaking your lead tones. I had an MXR 10EQ years ago and I'm thinking about picking another one up since I'm using different amps nowadays (my old MRX didn't have a switch--which is a huge difference for me).

Agreed.

I was playing it again tonight with a very slight mid bump and it add such a liquid tone. My Aldrich was sounding sick
The thing that Ive noticed with the GE-10 vs other Eq's is that it blends into your sound and doesn't screw around with the feel like other EQ's do. In other words when I hit the front end of my amp with the newer Eq's the tend to make the tone very artificial or for lack of better words plastic sounding lol. The GE tends to hump up the freequencies that you boost without making the tone artificial sounding. That's the best that I can describe it lol

Some of the heaviest metal-type tones I ever got were by sticking a GE7 and NS2 in the loop of a 5150 halfstack.

This has nothing to the with the thread itself but Ralph, I'm having to stop myself from viciously humping your avatar on my monitor.

I have not played my 67 plexi in years... I need to change out the filter caps. The last time I played it was January 2004 and it was motor boating bad.  I opened it up last week to make sure the caps are not leaking...only one was starting to "open up" :scared: .
ahhh,bummer..i remember the tone was great.
