FWIW there is also a post on this forum about "posting what bands you like" that i started a long time ago - progressive metal based. no one really took off on the post so there is only one reply and it was a mockery reply lest i remember? but in that topic/post is a huge list of over 100+ artists of simillar genre. worth searching for if you are looking for new things. ill see if i can try and find it myself.

yeah, I've checked out most of these bands. Been doing this for a while, but thanks a lot, there are a few I haven't heard of.

I Wish that our U.S. base record companies would open up some of the music being produce over seas that honor the hard rock, hair metal era :rawk: :m17: :worship:

Here's more 80s bands- Mari Hamada with Mike Landau and his crunchy cranked Plexi guitar tone scrunched up with a Yamaha SPX-90...

A little to pop for my taste but thanks for the heads up

I just discovered the amazing Steelheart! The vocals are out of this world! The first 2 albums are where it's at. I'm glad I found these guys and they're climbing into my favorites very quickly. I know they were early 90's but they certainly don't go with the grunge whiny movement.

My recent rediscovery is Accept. Back in 80's I was not a big Accept fan. I really liked the guitar playing but really didn't dig the singer. Now the current singer is incredible IMO and the songwriting is really good! Also the guitar tones and playing is awesome. I listen to a couple of the new songs almost everyday to get me wound up on the way into work. If you haven't heard the new CD, you have to check it out!

Now, some of us Accept fans might think that Udo DirkSchneider *IS* Accept, sort of the way some people think DLR *IS* Van Halen. I do not hold to this, but the diminutive Udo sure put on a good show back in the day, and Balls to the Wall still sounds fantastic . . .

Until this thread I had never heard of Tyketto and now I own all their stuff. What a great band and fantastic guitar tone. I really like these guys!

I've played along with Tykettos "Forever Young" for a long while now. Great stuff. That CD was sort of tough to come by though. Mine is a Japanese import.

Yeah, mine is also. Some of this stuff is becoming hard to find!
