Its so easy to dial in and always delivers solid tone. So many in between sounds to choose from. Its really working for me. I eliminated my pedalboard too just delay on top of amp through loop, wah on floor and clip on polytune very liberating. Its my 3rd 100B. Never even tried a 101b or 20th but curious

I prefer the 20th over a 101b, but the 100b is amazing. You are stoked man!! The 20th is really bad ass with some great tones.

I've never tried an XTC. I'd like to. But I still haven't quite figured out the differences between the various models (100B, 101B, 20th, Classic, etc.).

I played a 101B for the first time last week and it is pretty stellar. I just did;t have enough time or knowledge on ow to set all the little dip switches. It was easy to get 3 great usable tones though. I keep wanting to go back and buy it! LOL!

As a fellow current Splawn player I have been very interested in the XTC amps lately as well. I like the tight and fast repose of the Splawns and worry I won't like the XTCs low end. How did you find it?

I liked it a lot actually. I do think it is a little "buzzier" gain structure than the Splawn. Definitely different enough to warrant owning it along WITH the Quick Rod. Honestly, the Clean tone was my least favorite but I really only had 2 bouts of about 15 minutes at slightly louder than TV volume! LOL!

The Ecstasy clean channel is pretty hopeless. Also sounds like crap if you get the gain up and have it drive a little for a "dirty" clean. Very harsh and brittle overdrive. It's all about CH2 and CH 3 on those amps.

100b has good cleans and 101b are ok but have a bit less headroom. The key is to wind up the clean channel volume near full tilt and bring the gain up a little to reach the desired volume. Makes a HUGE difference and will yield decent or better cleans! loud and clean. Otherwise yes, the cleans are pretty flat.

Clean/Green channel on the 101b: Presence OFF (unless you are running Greenbacks then set to noon or so), B2, Channel volume cranked, Gain at 9:00, Bass at 1:00, Mids at 11:00, Treble at 1-2:00. "T" on the resonance. This will get you in the ballpark depending on speakers/cab. If you run G12 H30s in an open back, it will be VERY good. Scumback H55/H75 mix in a partially open-back is GLORIOUS.

One more thing...XTCs come usually with short-plate Chinese 12ax7s. These are fine for high-gain. Not great, but fine. If you can find a really nice long-plate NOS for V1 the change it will make on the Green channel will be pronounced.

This. Run the clean channel like a non master Fender and you'll hear how great it sounds.

If you're really using all 3 channels, set the Green channel up first, and use the Master Volume to get that all set up, then set up your Blue and Red channel volumes.

The tone of the Red Channel on the 100B is the tone I have had in my head all along. Such a great amp!!!!!

I owned a 101b and found it to be a disappointing amp purchase. It was all hype to me. I owned it the same time as I originally got my Splawn. I felt the Quickrod had a much better tone and was so simple to setup. I've played a 100b and thought it sounded much better than my bogner. It really depends on what you want out of it.

Isn't the title of this thread kinda like...

I've owned my 100B for 10 years (among others), best live amp for sure. I've tried a 20th , 101B and Classic. I like the 100B the most. I use an ARC klone in the clean chanel to give it some hair.

Good point.

Would love to try a 100B! Love my 101B though, no complaints!
