Rebel30 - Hissing

Hi!

I have a problem with my Rebel30 and I don´t know if this is a normal behavior.

I didn´t connect a guitar cable on the amp to hear only the noise of the amp.

Hereis the Clean Channel:







Here is the Distortion Channel

Distortion at 9 o´clock

Distortion at 12 o´clock

Distortion at 15 o´clock

Distortion full

I really love the amp, but this is annoying.
You can´t use this amp for recording, you always have this annoying hissing in the Background

Swap out the preamp tubes - take a know good one and roll it through all the tube positions (replace, power on, test for noise) until the noise goes away - most likely to be V1 - but could be any one.

Let us know if that works - if not then you need to do the power tubes.

The rebel 30 is a hissy amp. I couldn't use it for that. You might to look at the rebel 30 mark 2. Website says it has a reduced noise floor.

But I replaced every preamp tube with the V1 step by step, but the noise doesnt disappeared or changed.

For what I've suggested you need to be using a new (and know good) preamp tube, moving the tubes around in the amp is unlikely to solve the situation.

I don't know the amp so I can't say one way or the other if that is the normal noise floor as Len has suggested, even if it is swapping out the existing tubes for something of a better quality should drop the noise. In my experience Egnaters tend to come stock with Sovtek's (which I hate) and I always swap these out for either Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG or JJ 12AX7's.

Valve Queen always has a good stock of quality tubes, and they test them well too, so if I was you I'd go invest in some new preamp tubes! Even if they don't fix the issue you are going to need some sooner or later

This! If you have a bad preamp tube, you're just shifting it around in the amp
Preamp tubes are cheap. If your local music store doesn't have any, you can order from a plethora of purveyors (Valve Queen, The Tube Depot, or MF/SW)...
If that doesn't solve the problem, perhaps it could be power tubes, or a loose connection somewhere. I've recorded and played my Rebel 30 for years and it's never been 'hissy' or noisy.
