Looking for a decent attenutator to be able to crank an amp to get the toanz and not go deaf...

I don't want the most expensive top of the line boutique one, but thinking a decent qulaity and a moderatly priced one.

This is pretty a topic I have never kept up with at all.

thanks!

Both the Unleash and Rockcrusher get my vote. I love my Rockcrusher. If I needed a reamper as well or even a loop for an amp that doesn't have one, I might be swayed to get an Unleash.

Most attenuators are awful and deliver no toanz when attenuating more than 3dB. The Rivera Rockcrusher is great, fairly affordable and gets my vote.

yep... the rockcrusher was getting my attention after watching a few vids...

There's a used SE100 on ebay for 340.00
I've used one for 30 years with no problems, but you only get 3 levels of attenuation. It just shaves the high's just a tad but you can easily compensate for it and it can be used as a load for a W/D/W system with line level or XLR outputs to go straight to a board, and it has a headphone output as well. Also has cab micing angle selection.
Its dated technology, but it still works for me

Is your goal to record? Or play live.. Mine was to record. So I got a Suhr Iso line out to sit between the amp and Hotplate and bam, into the DAW with cab sims from ownhammer or redwirez. Sounds better than my mic'd speakers. For that all you need is anything that can handle a load or that you don't care about shaving the highs. Because you are getting the signal right out of the amp before it hits the attenuator, even a cheapo jet city attenuator will do the trick. If you want it for live, I'd probably agree with everyone else and say the rockcrusher.

I want to sit in front of this open box/brand new Sodano Hot Rod 100 plus I just totally $tole and "get the goods" with out going deaf...

These amps just come alive and feel superb under your fingers with master on 4...

I'm really thinking that the "Cockcrusher" is the way to go...

I had a Roclcrusher and prefer the Scumback attenuator.

The Bumcrack attenuator looks prerrty cool, but I hate the fact that it only has one impedance level.

I have a Mesa/Boogie TriAxis / Mesa Strategy 500 power amp setup in my rack running into mesa cabs. The Rockcrusher is AWESOME!!!!!!! All my tone is there:) Records super easy too:)

Plus the EQ section is great!

I will say this....not that its intended for 100 watt amps...I would not recommend the Dr Z Air Brake.

I'm really feeling the Nadcrusher is really the way to go...

Based on reviews, my vote would be the Fryette Power Station. Look that one up!!

Loved mine but ultimately ended up not using it as often as I thought I would need to. Especially now that I jumped to the Kemper. Haven't fired up the tube rig in a while.

If I were in the market, I'd take a good look at the Fryette Power Station, as well. Reviews are VERY positive so far, and it takes the attenuator idea a step further than anything else out there.

Yup, look at TGP for reviews.

I'm glad I never sold my THD Hotplate. It was very pricey when I got it, but since I wouldn't have been able to afford anything like it.
It works well overall, so I'm happy.

Loved my Rockcrusher....that being said, I would buy the Fryette Power Station if I needed 1 now. The PS is a great piece of gear. .and well thought out.

I have one on the way...and when Dave Friedman is raving about it, it's worth a look. Plus it's also a 50 watt power amplifier with an FX loop. For $600?? Done and done.
