Recessed or not?

I'm going to order a Suhr Modern without the Floyd, but I can't decide between recessed or non-recessed vintage trem. I've always had recessed Wilkinson trems on my other guitars, but I hardly ever use the trem. Would I gain anything tone wise with the bridge resting on the body? What do guys think?

My Moderns have a recessed 510 and recessed Floyd. I prefer floating trems with a bit more upward range. Plus, I'm always worried if I pull up too much on a non-recessed trem, I may damage the face of the guitar.

OMG, it's a FLoyd question from someone other than "Bunghole"!!!

I like recessed.

I would go with a hard tail. I love a Floyd when setup right, but I use one so little that I've been going the hartail route and my tone has improved greatly.

I would love to get a hardtail, but it's not available on the Modern. Vintage trem or Floyd, so it has to have a trem of somekind.

BTW, the Gotoh Floyd used on the Modern is great. I have no issues with the way it sounds compared to a hard-tail.

Vintage trem and block it between the body and sustain block if you want a HT type tone.

All I have to offer.

Recessed, dive only Floyd. D-Tuna. Tone is great because the bridge rests flat on the body.
