Ok, so I haven't bought a new compressor in 28 years. I've been using my old Boss compressor but it finally died. So, I'm in the market for a new pedal. I have looked at the Keeley 4 knob compressor and am really impressed with it, I have also looked at the Carl Martin Compressor and am equally impressed.

Are there others I should look at? I primarily only use it for some clean settings in my live rig.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
Mark

Barber Tone Press is worth chekcing out if you haven't yet. It's a parallel compressor with a blend knob. I think it saying that it runs parallel to your dry signal and with the blend knob you adjust the amount of wet/compressed signal that is in the correct phase to you orginal signal.

Effectrode PC-2a Tube Compressor, used and worshipped by guys like Thomas Blug and Dave Gilmour

This thing is BADASS, get the best, screw the rest

That looks cool. If you want some light compression, almost like tone enhancing, try the Mad Professor on sustain mode. It's pretty nice. It doesn't really work for me though, for heavy compression. If you're looking for that, the Keeley is pretty nice. For optical's, the Diamond is good too.

*Effectrode* I found it over here, with a demo. - http://proguitarshop.com/effectrode-compressor.html -nice

+1 on the Barber Tone press, i like it so much i bought two for two different boards

the h.b.e retro compressor i had for a while was also great, only the tone press stayed however

If you want a really sweet squishy classic compressor, the Keeley is the one to get. I have the C4 on my board and I use it for cleans and drive tones alike.

I've had my eye on the Tone Press for a long time. Currently using a HBE CPR, and really like it, but still, that Tone Press is very tempting.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll check out the barber tone press, and Kage the effectrode PC2a looks interesting also. Thanks for all the input, I've got some trying out to do!!!
