Interesting, sounds like it should the way you described it, anyone know if this would work for sure without me damaging anything?
Yup...it'll be fine run amp-HP set to 0dB-into the UA.

Awesome thanks Ed :D Guess that solves it

If you're using gain from your amp and you have to use the input of your amp, then DONT spend that much money at all on a delay because they're going to all sound the same, like shit IMHO. Even ducking delays to me sounded like a mess into the input. Delays will work fine on a clean tone of mild gain, but forget high gain. I never had much luck using delays even with a pushed Marshall.

I think most of my gain will probably be through OD's if it sounds like crap, I'll possibly look into getting a FX loop put into my Variplex.

IMO I would not put a loop in that amp and this is coming from captain supersoak, you are messing with the signal path. From listening to the true Marshall guys and others there is a reason they want the older marshalls with no loops or the earlier re-issues with no loops.

Chris Nix's variplex has no loop as he stated it was the truest sounding model imo.

With the right pedal(s) into that amp, you'll be more than fine. And the delay won't matter much when using ODs. I think I saw another thread where you mentioned that you had bought a handful of ODs. I'd be really, really surprised if any of them sounded like crap through the Variplex...

Yeah so far the only ones that have arrived are the Box of Rock and the Purple Plexi 800. Really digging both pedals right now, so far I am really liking the Box of Rock. The purple plexi has this weird feeling going on, just have to find a sweet spot for it right now between the two pedals, one setting on the amp with the BoR sounds like shit through the PP800, ends up being wayy too trebly. I am still messing with the settings on the amp to figure out a better way to run it. Also it seems the volume knob isn't too useful on the PP800, has a shitload of gain though!

I see, I wonder if that difference is very noticeable? I guess thats why there is W/D

^^^Yes, the difference is very noticeable. Line out box and re-amp, for a w/d, stereo, or w/d/w rig is the way to go if maximum results is your goal w/ an amp with no effects loop, and IMO even if your amp has an effects loop.

Mark is right come down to the shop and spend a couple of hours trying every pedal. since i had dave friedman build these boards, guys come in all the time and think they want a certian pedal and end up leaving with another. I have a variplex at the shop.
