Hi,

I just got a Kemper profiling amp modeller and would like to purchase know a good recording software program to use with the Kemper. I have an iMac with 16GB of Ram. With the Kemper I use ADAM Audio A7 monitors. I'm looking for a program that will allow me to record music made with the Kemper. If the program has the capability to add bass, drums and synths to the tracks it would be even better. This would be my first attempt at recording, so I'm looking for something easy to use.

Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Try Garage Band that came with your iMac as a start. Easy to get started.

Logic Pro X is a natural extension of that,if you like Garageband. Logic Pro X is way more powerful so if you can't do what you want with GarageBand then maybe you buy Logic Pro X at that point.

This. Logic is as powerful as any program as a DAW. The primary cost of entry is buying an Apple computer, which you've already got.

Logic is very user friendly and its stock software instruments/samplers are generally accepted as the best of the major DAW's. It also comes with MainStage and a couple other applications which you may or may not find useful.

Definitely start with GarageBand. If you're not crazy about it, then I'd recommend PreSonus Studio One. They offer a free version, and a free 30-day trial of their full-on professional version.

yep you already have garageband just use that then move to logic...imo its awesome ...

I like Reaper, but I also recommend Logic since you are on a Mac.

I have Pro-Tools, but will be switching to Logic shortly. My bandmates both have Logic on their Macs, so I've become quite familier with it, and actually prefer it to PT.

This, and the fact that Pro Tools is moving to a $199 per year subscription model. I don't like their new business model much.

Yup....agreed. I have used Pro Tools since 99. I moved to Logic Pro X last year and haven't looked back since.

I've been using Pro Tools since around 2005, and I think I'm at the point where I'm going to move to Studio One. I'd go with Logic, but I flip between Mac and PC somewhat regularly, so it wouldn't be the best fit.
