Hey Guys,

Whats a Good HSS setup? I want to put some pickups into my Yamaha Pacifica 012. It's made of Agathis ( :gay: ), but it's been sitting around for a long time. So i want to use it.

I've thought of Bareknuckle, Dimarzio, EMG?.. But i'm a bit lost. Maybe, a bit of a waste putting a good set of pickups into Agathis, but this guitar isn't going anywhere. I want a really smooth, nice lead sound.

Any ideas?

Supposedly EMG are the most neutral when taking wood into consideration, meaning they sound like EMGs no matter what wood you have. I'm not sure I totally buy that, but it's a good start.

An H/s/s setup I've been dying to try are the Dimarzio Superdistorsion/YJM/YJM. I know the ouput will be unbalanced but those singles have such killer tone...

smooth lead?

Dimarzio Breed bridge
Virtual Vintage '54 middle
Dimarzio Pro Track neck

I love my Dimarzio set:

Super Distortion - bridge
Virtual Blues - middle
Area 58' - neck

well, I said pro track since the guy wanted super smooth lead,

But I REALLY like the tone of my Virtual Vintage 2.1 in the neck.

Not true, my Les Paul Gothic (Mahogony) with 81/85's sounds totally different than in my PRS C24 with 81/85's, plus my Hamer Californian USA Elite (solid Flame Maple) with 81/SA/SA's doesn't sound like either of them.
