Let me start out by saying I do have a 212 Mesa vertical cab. What I am trying to figure out is the best way to record of the amp tone without a mic I don't have a sound booth. Basically I'm having a ton of trouble with the podfarm plugin and Ableton live. So I'm trying to figure out a better way to record the guitar. I had a few ideas like using make Epsom on a pond with my Friedman brown eye pedal. Or using some sort of processor but I figure since I have my amp I might as well try to use it. I don't currently have the money for the two notes torpedo live is there anything like it?

You could use any type of reactive load (Fryette Power Station or PowerLoad, Badcat Unleash, Suhr Reactive Load, etc), then run into your interface and use an IR in the box.

The Power Load has analog cab modeling also.

Take the line out or fx loop out right into your computer and use an IR loader as a cabinet in your daw. Leave your cab connected so you don't fuck your transformer though. Personally, I like the line out best as it comes after the power amp.

Get yourself a Torpedo Captor, plug in the speaker out, run it into an interface and use an IR. That's the best method IMO.

Line Out = zero expense
Universal Audio Ox = expensive, but amazing

If your Mesa has a slave out, that comes off the speaker tap after the power transformer, it will be like the line out on a reactive load. Take that signal, run it into your interface and apply an impulse, done.

You must still have a speaker load attached to the amp.

It's a mess Rectoverb hopefully it has a slave out. Can I just run that into a mooer radar then to my interface?

whatever you do just make sure the head has a spkr out load. Line out to the board or whatever device alone without the amp being under load = up in smoke

Haven't tried the OX yet but I did do some lineout +IRs vs loadbox + IRs. The line out method works but man you lose pretty much all your amp's dynamics in my opinion. But hey its worth trying to see if thats the direction you want go with. Otherwise as mentioned 2 notes captor is the cheapest method with a loadbox so far.

Also useable as a standalone unit (with headphones out or line out), Two Notes Torpedo Live.
Also does power amp (tube) simulation.

As I understood that the Ox is more limited (also no V30 emulation, which Mesa's typically thrive on), I'm glad I went for the Torpedo Live.

Your mesa has a silent mode, right? I think most of mine do. Just keep the speakers attached. I have not done it, but I have read a lot of mesa manuals snd recommended you do too.

Face your cab with the speakers facing the floor so it’s kinda quiet. Plug your power amp out into your audio interface. Load an ir plugin and find a good cab. Have fun. This actually sounds every bit as good as a load box. I’ve done this with my single rec. works pretty good.

Keep your real cab plugged in at all times. Facing it down will keep the volume down quite a bit if it a straight cab. If it’s slanted up top just get some pillows and stuff then under to take up space.
