Hello everybody! Just picked up an Engl E570 preamp for recording. Will be using IRs. Would you recommend E570 output to mic pre input to computer or E570 into a power amp (Matrix GT1000) into load box (Two Noted VB-101) to computer. Thanks for any suggestion you can offer.

One more question, it says the XLR outputs are Balanced Frequency Compensated line outs. Is that doing a speaker emulation and anyway to bypass this?

The Matrix is just a solid state power amp correct? If so then no, do not run it into a load as you’ve described.

Do you have tube amp around at all? If it’s a decent one try running the ENGL preamp into the FX return, then connect the amp to the load box.

Reason is that a preamp without a tube power amp never sounds good. Half the equation is missing and it shows. IMO, IME etc.

And yes avoid frequency compensated outputs if you plan to use an I.R.

Thanks for the info Zen Amps. Looking forward to using this preamp.
