This might not be the best place to ask about recording software but I trust your opinions here. Just wondering what program you guys like on a Mac. I have been running an old version of Logic ( 7 or 8 cant remember at the moment) on my 2007 IMac , Anyways its time for a new computer and new recording software. I have to 'start over" basically So either I can go with the newest version of Logic and figure out the changes or go for a different program all together... What are you Mac guys running these days ?

I used to record all the time. Even did my old bands whole album on Cubase/PC over 5 years ago. Since moving to Mac, I find LogicX not very inspiring. I need to go back and install protools 9 again.

I just use reaper ... its basic and brilliant

Garageband can seriously handle 90% of what the average guitarist/home recording hobbyist needs. Then Logic is a simple and intuitive upgrade.

Honestly all of the programs can do what you need (except GarageBand depending on what you want to do). It all comes down to comfort beyond that.

I've been in the Logic world for close to ten years with no regrets.

The hard part is finding what you are comfortable with. I like Presonus Studio One 3 and Logic Pro X. Both great programs.

At the price, Logic X is a no brainer there. As suggested, depending on what you use it for, you can get away with GarageBand. If you change your mind later and get Logic, your GarageBand projects will work just fine.
I’m still running Logic 9 as I’m low on resources, and have a lot of older plugins that may not work with it so I’m hesitant to upgrade until I get a newer Mac.

Logic Pro X
This right here. If I wasn’t using Logic Pro X I’d probably go with Studio One.
