I don't post here very often, but I wanted to share some youtube clips of Redplate Amps in Phoenix AZ. I know that they usually don't do high gain amps, but they have just come out with the Black Magic which is pretty awesome! I am just doing some wanking but thought you may find their amps interesting.

Here is the EL34 version no effects just guitar, cable and amp.

Here is the 6L6 version no effects just gutar and amp.

DAYUM! I'm digging that 6L6 version. I'd love to hear more clips and the clean channel

wow that 6L6 sounds fab.

What guitar and speakers in the marshall cab?

Thanks for the kind words!

The cab is loaded with Celestions Vintage 30's and GT-75's in an X pattern (16 Ohms).

It is a Mogami cable plugged in directly from an Atomic Tele loaded with a Duncan Custom in the bridge and a Duncan Jazz in the neck position.

Here is a picture of what we were messing with yesterday.

The el34 version sounds like it's got some Cameron DNA in it.
I'm not seeing any info on their website.

You can order them with 6L6 or EL34 power section. Since I like EL34 tubes, I had them build me one with that type of power section. Those guys at Redplate Amps are super accomodating and very patient when it comes to "fine tuning" your tone. You can always get a hold of someone at the shop via phone or email. Their customer service is stupendious!!

That sounds great. So from the clips it does sound like it can get pissed like a Cameron. Where would you characterize it's sound in comparison to like a Friedman and Carol Ann Triptek. Saturated like the Friedman, smoother like the Carol Ann?
Does the 6L6 version cut like a SLO?

Lot of tone shaping according to the website.
Be cool to see/hear a demo of how the midQ works, the pull shift
and cranking the bass does a total EQ bypass.

Sounds like great stuff

I watched all those clips and they sound badass. However I still wish I could hear different settings, like maybe what the amp sounds like with the mids dimed, less bass, etc.. It's hard to get the feel of an amp through clips. My experience of a Slo has come through watching many clips, some horrible, some amazing, but by hearing so many different people's settings, micing (both good and bad,) I started to get a feel of how the amp could be set. Unfortunately I've never gotten to hear a Slo in person though. Some of my favorite SLO clips are set just a little bit brighter with more mids then this particular clip. This clip sounds amazing though and stands on its own. I would love to get this amp to play Tool songs alone, and it sounds great doing the Eddie stuff. I still want to hear what it sounds like with the mids and treble higher and less bass though, to get a feel of that sound. This sound is great though too. I am seriously thinking of buying this amp.
