Refret Time: FB Radius?

So I've been giving this some thought as I need to send my LP in for a refret.

I play a lot and I mean a lot of lead lines as it comprises most of my practice routine. Now I can comfortably play a Fender with a 9" radius and a Les Paul with a fat 50's neck and not tell the difference. Granted there is but it feels comfy either way.

So my question is if I play a lot of legato style licks and like to bend a lot too; what's best for me? I was thinking of 6150 SS wire and a 14" radius.

My two favorite neck profiles and radius boards are the new Wolfgang guitars and a PRS Swamp Ash Special. I think one's a ten and the other a 12- not vastly different.

For reference, I have a LP Classic PP and it's a 60's style neck.

Thanks guys!

Stay with 12

Any reason as to why?

It's the original spec. If you ever decide to sell it, you will have a much easier time moving it without some oddball fretboard radius. BTW, the wolfgang is a compound radius 12" - 16".

Oh it's been refinished two times and it's beat to hell.

I'm the second owner and I never intended to get rid of it.

Cool to know about the Wolfgang. I really dug it.

Thanks!

I thought you just got it back together. you need another guitar. One to play and another one to just constantly tweek :D

You knew I needed a refret lol.

I'll tweak the next one too. I'm either doing a straight 14" or 12-16 compound.

This is why:

I can tell the difference in neck size and how that affects my feel but FB radius; no way.

I like super low action but if I stick with 12 and a taller fret wire I should get the same results.

The 6150 SS wire is .107x.047

I like the 6150 fretwire. One of my issues with LP's I've played is the small flat frets. I'm betting you'll notice the large fretwire a long time before you notice any change in neck radius. i'd go with a straight 12 or strait 14. On an LP I would imagine you'd be up to the neck heel before the compound radius would come into play. But what do I know, I don't like LP's anyway :scared:

I love LP for tones but I love PRS/Super Strat necks for the comfort and access.

That's what I'm looking to do on my LP

prs necks are 10

if you must compound radius consider 12-16 which is what gibson is now doing on the new 2013 standards.
