in my town they removed all 20 parking meters....hell they even removed a red blinking light at the 3-way in the center. shit had been there since they filmed Cool hand Luke.....

Spokane, WA. probably because the homeless and crackheads were breaking into the meters for $. Fuck that city, glad I'm 25 mile north of that shit town. They do have the biggest enclosed homeless area in the state though. It is even fenced to keep the critters in and others out.
