I just got this ptp plexi clone for the specific purpose of getting the brown eye mod....talked to Dave by telephone today, nice guy to deal with...cant wait to send it out! does anyone here prefer the addition of the saturation switch?

Id highly recommend the saturation switch. For the small amount of extra cash, it really gives the amp a different feel and tone IMO.

thanks for the info...how is the bottom end, does it remain tight throughout the different mod types?

Bottom end is tight....not overly tight but tight in a perfect way! No farting out on my amp ever, not even close.

Amp will be delivered to Rack Systems on Friday!!!!!!!!!

YES!!! 100% YES.....add the SATURATION switch.for the extra $50 or so,it's a killer option to have along with the Brown Eye mod.the SAT switch feature is like having a "cameron style" jose-hg tone with the flick of a toggle switch  it's like having TWO amps in one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I asked for the sat switch with the kitchen sink mod....largely based on your youtube vids of the purplexi!!!

cool, glad ya liked it enough to get one of your own!!! you'll love it!!!

Cant wait to get it back....anticipation is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I get home late from class tonight and the fedex tag is on the door.....(figures) any other night I would be around. So while I'm waiting to get the amp tomorrow let me just say that if it sounds as good as the service I received from Dave I will be blown away. My amp was done on schedule and it was shipped very quickly!!! Cant say enough positive phrases about the experience...so I will not try. Thanks again Dave. tone report to follow...

Ok Ive had a chance to play around with the amp a bit and I like the voicing very much. I prefer the brown eye channel with the gain maxed and the C45 on. the saturation switch is worthless for me, I should have done more checking about this, I probably meant to get the modern switch instead. The saturation robs too much authority from the power section for me- the sound gets too small IMO. I use lower gain seymour duncan alnico II pearly gates pickups and they work real well with this amp. I'm able to get ac/dc to guns n roses to Ratt while turning the guitar volume down for clean. It cleans up really well. fantastic string to string definition. The amp, to a certain extent, reminds me of my old bogner ecstasy in the blue channel only better with presence and high end, the way it should be. The classic marshall sound is left intact. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase. I will probably have to send it back to swap the saturation switch for the modern switch. If anyone can compare the JBE to the HBE that would be great. In particular, is the JBE more open sounding (similar to the brown eye) than the HBE?? Right now I'm running el34 mullard reissues in teh power section and jj's in the pre. My power section has the ability to swap out to 6l6"s 6550's etc...so I will experiment a little when I have more money for tubes.

My Marshall has the modern switch I dig it and its on that setting most of the time. I dont use the saturation mode at all either btu I dont mind having it. Mine has the clean on the back and its awesome. I have the BE and HBE but really onlu use the BE. Again nice to have tho. I love mine its a 100W version.
