I've had my Renegade for about 8 months now. A tube has already blown (A 6L6) and a fuse already blew. I'm not pushing too much power into it, but all use it for is church. I usually keep it on for a good few hours every Sunday, but leave it off in between services (about a 20 minute break). I didn't like using standby, because the signal would drop if I ran a direct out.

What I want to know is this:
-Why would a fuse blow so quickly?
-Why would a TUBE blow only after 8 months?
-What brand of tubes should I replace those 6L6's with to get a really rich, Fender sound.
-(I really enjoy the Blues Jr. Any tubes that can make that happen? That clean sound just gets me every time.)

What I want to know is this:
-Why would a fuse blow so quickly? BAD TUBE
-Why would a TUBE blow only after 8 months? TUBE RELIABILITY IS REALLY BAD AND ITS THE NATURE OF TUBES TO FAIL AT SOME POINT WHETHER THEY ARE PUSHED OR NOT
-What brand of tubes should I replace those 6L6's with to get a really rich, Fender sound. ITS PERSONAL PREFERENCE

Right, but I've never bought tubes before. Which brand would you recommend?

If you go to an online store like the Tubestore.com or Eurotubes.com (there are many others) they can help you find tubes that will accentuate the kind of tone you're after. Keep in mind you can't turn a Blues Jr. into a 5150 just by putting the right tubes in it. But you can tweak the inherent sound of an amp in a personalized direction with the right tubes.

I agree with the other post, sounds like you had a bad tube. That will also cause blown fuses. So this doesn't sound like a problem with your amp.

Good luck.

Another thing that will shorten the life of tubes is too many power ups. The initial rush of electricity wears on the tubes more than just leaving them idle. Turning your amp off between sets will take a toll on your tubes over time. Particularly with new production tubes of questionable quality.

Always turn it on in standby mode first, let it warm up, and then full on. Do the reverse when shutting it of- standby first, then sshut it off.
