Ok, I still can't make up my mind whether I should just go and buy the Renegade 65 or buy my 2nd choice which is the Mesa Express 5:50 head. Mesa has photos in their catalog of the inside of their amps. Does Egnater have a photo available of the Renegade that can be posted here? If not, has someone opened up the amp and taken a photo that can be posted?

From what I hear the Mesa Express head is also fantastic! Hear ton of good things about it, so perhaps doing some more research man, clips etc.

Based on this clip, I hear nothing really compelling from the Mesa. The clean tone isn't and all of the gain tones have the same buzzy distortion that reminds me of my first fuzz box. Perhaps a better demo is in order, but the Renegade head that I've had for a few weeks is providing me with an endless variety of tone from crisp punchy clean to wide dark growling distortion to biting edgy leads. I am super happy. I'll see about snapping a photo when I'm in the guts again. I was just in there and it is very tidy.

I would also go for the Renegade over the Mesa 5:50. I didn't think the Mesa was that great, and I tried all of the variations on it. The only one I liked was the 5:25 with a 1 X 10 speaker which I thought was really snappy sounding. Other then that I think the Renegade beats it hands down.

Hey thanks alot for posting this.

Sure the Renegades have great tone, but maybe I will snap one up if it shows up on the used market for cheap. I know that I will eventually own an Egnater amp in some shape or form. Tons of used Rebels out there, so probably a matter of time before the Renegades show up too.

I just got back from the music store and paid for a brand new handwired (to a certain degree) Mesa Express 5:50 head. Hope that it holds up while gigging. Reliability is very important to me. :gethim:

Mesa's are actually pretty reliable from my experience. Hope you enjoy your new amp, be sure to post clips asap!!!
