Renegade EQ Question

On my other amps the passive eq's need to be cranked to 100% to basically defeat the eq. Lowering any eq setting from there effectively cuts frequencies from the natural output of the amp.

Is this how the Renegade was designed too? Is that the nature of all passive eq's?

thanks

The Renegade was designed with standard passive British tone controls. I think if you go check out http://duncanamps.com/tsc/index.html and download their free program, you will see the answer to all of your passive tone control questions, and more.

Any updates on this? I tried to download the file but I have MAC and it looks like it only runs on a PC. I'm interested into learning what you found out though....

It doesn't look like it runs w/Windows 7 so I didn't download it.

hmm, didn't realize it doesn't run on Windows 7. If you get a chance to check it out at some point, it's an interesting little program. But to answer your original question, our tone controls are designed just like any other amp's passive controls.

So what exactly does that mean? I always just used the passive tone controls to taste. Are you really supposed to crank them all all the way up and then cut them from there? I never heard of that. I know this seems like a moronic question but....have I been doing this wrong all these years?

Honestly, there is no right way to turn the knobs. If what you're doing has worked for you, then continue on. If you have any way of checking out that thing I posted earlier, it will show you exactly how turning the knobs affects different frequencies on your amp. We always use the saying around here, "adjust with your ears, not with your eyes"
