I just picked up my Renegade yesterday, and am loving it so far. My next gig seems so far away! My question:

If I were to run an outboard preamp into the fx return (using the renegade as a power amp) which power tubes would I be using? Does it defer to the Tube Mix setting on the active channel, or does it use both sets equally?

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm sure someone, if not Bruce himself, will soon. I was just about to start a topic with an effects loop question when I saw yours so I figured I'd piggy-back on yours if you don't mind. Then hopefully we'll both get the info we seek.

will the effects send allow me to feed the Renegade preamp to another power amp?

You certainly can use the loop return as a power amp in from another preamp. Even though you won't be playing through the Renegade preamp channels, whichever channel is active (on the Renegade) will be the one to set the tube mix. In other words, with the Renegade set to channel 1, the tube mix knob on channel 1 will be active. If the Renegade is switched to channel 2, the tube mix knob on channel 2 is active. You could use your external preamp and still use the channel switching function on the Renegade and be able to have a choice of tube mix knobs by switching channels on the Renegade along with your external preamp.

I was kind of hoping I could get some help from someone who knows what they're talking about ;-). All kidding aside, I'm floored that you take the time to answer silly little questions from weekend warriors like me. Not only do I have a fantastic amp, but tech support from the designer himself. This little moment has made me an Egg-head (can I take credit for that?) for life. Keep it up, Bruce!
