Agreed. First of all - ALL slavery is wrong. It is also wrong to discriminate based on the color of one's skin. Judge a person by their character, etc.

Slavery has been around as long as humans have had the ability to control other humans. And it was not strictly toward black people through the ages, but including people of all colors. White people in the early America's didn't wake up one morning and decide to go to Western Africa to round up black people because they (Americans) were prejudice and lazy. Like you said, the slave trade was already there and it was Western African tribes selling slaves to anyone (worldwide) who can afford it. That, and many Americans (mainly in the North, but also in the South) were against slavery. Also, some slave owners treated their slaves almost as family, giving them lots of perks and freedoms. Lastly, within several hundred years, Americans (along with the help of one republican Abraham Lincoln) got slavery abolished. We then worked hard, through the Civil Rights Movement, to try to reverse the effects and get to a point of equality. Is it perfect? No. Is there still discrimination and prejudice? Yes. Do we owe people today reparations ($$) for something that happened over 200 hundred years ago?

Hell no.
