Do any other user’s experience little to no mid sweep on channels 2 & 3? Even if I have the GEQ off it makes little to no difference. I can hear a slight change (a little more bass when all the way up). Channel 1 has a lot of sweep but almost nothing on 2 & 3. Amp was made 10/2019.

My Mark Iv actually seems similar but I just wanted to see if any other users have noticed this.

I am attaching a youttube link with a quick sound sample.

Thanks

Mesa's are not mid heavy amps but IDK if yours isn't working. I heard a little sweep.
Maybe google MESA support & try some JP2C preferred settings & see if that helps.
I got 2 Rectifiers and you can get mids out of them but you have to tweak it a little.
Bottom line is they are great platform amps.
Try a 6 or 10 band EQ & goose the mids.
Tube swap in the Pre may work too.

I’ve got a Mark IV, and If these work similarly, the knobs are more about feel, and the GEQ is for tone shaping.

I have had a few recto’s as well over the years and the mid knob has had more sweep then the mark series. I’m thinking this is just how the amp is but wanted to see if any other owners had the same experience. Its subtle.

Seems normal. The mid knob doesn't do much on the older amps (e.g. Mark III). JP2C is probably the same. Should sound slightly clearer with mids low, but that's about ti.

In a Mark series the tone controls are pre-distortion so they have less effect on the amount of bass/mid/treble but still have an effect on the character of the distortion. The tone controls are fine/normal when playing clean.

The mid knob has the least effect of all the knobs on a Mark amp. It should probably make it feel a bit stiffer as you turn it up, but there's usually not a big discernable difference in tone.

Yeah, that´s a Mark series mid knob right there. The Rectos are set up very different and are not really a good comparison.

Thanks everyone for chiming in, I just wanted to get a few opinions and make sure I wasn't going out of my mind.

Yup, that's a Mark series for ya. The mid knob does very little on all of them (iic+, III, IV and V), i find it just fills out the sound slightly but muddies it a bit in the process, so I keep it on the low side, around 3. On the clean channel it has a stronger effect, just like all the controls. Treble has the strongest effect, from lower gain to fire breathing metal with a twist of a knob.

Anyone notice that the bass control on the Mark IV has more usable range on the Mark IV vs the other Marks. The other Mark's especially the III you can't turn it above 2 with out it flubbing out, but on the IV you can usefully bring it up to 4 or 5 and still remain on the tight side, just with more lows and sub lows. Just something I noticed. The dude from Chevelle has his bass control around 5 ish and he's got one of the best Mark IV tone's i've heard... not typical metal but more alternative metal. I would say. It's a VERY thick,, fat modern tone. You definitely couldn't dial that kinda tone with a Mark III.
