I've always hated stereo/mono cabs jack plates. I just picked up a used and very old Pevey 412MS, all if the speakers are bought used as well. Been trying to recreate an old cab that I loved and I think something may be wrong.
The speakers are all 16ohms wired in series/parallel so this should be a 16ohm load.
Here are the readings on my digital meter.
Left (input) stereo switch = 13.4 Ohms
Right (output) stereo switch = 175 Kohms which is 175,000 ohms?
Left (input) mono switch = .3 Mohms or .5 Mohms depending if red/black probe is on top or bottom.
Right (output) mono switch = .45 Mohms or .55 Mohms depending on red/black probe top or bottom. These Mohms would equal 300,000 ohms - 500,000 etc.
Clearly something is wrong here. I can just buy a new switchcraft jack and disable the stereo bs which is probably what I will do but would it be safe to use this as is? Maybe plug into the left (input) stereo that reads 13.4 ohms?
None of this makes sense at all considering stereo should be 8 ohms but that's what I got. Maybe the jack is broke, maybe one of the speakers is bad, maybe my multi meter is toast.
Pretty expensive amp I'll be using and definitely not trying to break it.
