From the Beaumont, Texas show today. Friend is working sound and just sent me these. Haven't talked to him so I don't really know any details but it looks like he's running the same rig he's had for years.

I saw some VH1 show last night that was ZZ Top live and the Rev's tone was stunningly sweet. He is a much smoother player than I remember. I noticed that the guitar he played for most of the show seemed to have a very flat fretboard, no markers, almost white, and the way his bends moved across the frets I would almost guess that they were stainless.

I saw them on a concert video and was surprised on how RAUNCHY his rhythm guitar sounded!
Super CRUNCHY and damn near METAL tones.....
but they way he played it......sounded PERFECT for the ZZ songs!

Great stuff, saw 'em 4 months ago and his tone was sweeet  He's used those JMP1's for a long time. Very interesting mike setup

Interesting set list. I would trade out Viva Las Vegas for Sharp Dressed Man, but I'm not one of the baddest Mofos on the planet.

Do you remember back in 83 when they played at Bridgeport Highschool stadium?
Zebra opened for them!

No way. In '83 I was just getting into rock and roll and didn't know anything. That would have been bitchin'.

Yuppers! Saw it!
IT was the Eliminator tour.
Now...I look back and wonder.........

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY PLAYING THERE FOR??

my wife and I saw then in Boston at the Orpheum last summer, it was a fantastic show and the tone was fantastic. During the show Dusty had to sit down and rest a few times and The Rev would sometimes noodle around, which was really fun to watch.

That must be the "B" rig.....here's what he was running last year......

Does anyone know what Mic that is? I've seen it on lots of rigs lately.

Big Mick is a bad M***** F*****! Not a big Metallica fan, but he has it together in a major way.

Heil PR-30. Killer on guitars.

He's been pretty loyal to those Marshall preamps for a long time. I think even the old Rio Grande amps were actually Marshalls.
